Senior Staff Transitions at FMC

Ms. Sandra Kusumoto, Director, Bureau of Certification and Licensing retired December 31, 2019 after 36 years of service to the Commission and having begun her federal career as a U.S. Peace Corp volunteer.  Mr. Tyler J. Wood departed his post as General Counsel on January 3, 2020, taking up a new position with the Department of Justice.

Following consultation and consent of his fellow Commissioners, Chairman Michael Khouri, has appointed Clifford Johnson to serve as Acting Director, Bureau of Certification and Licensing, effective January 1, 2020, and William Shakely to serve as Acting General Counsel, effective January 5, 2020.

“Ms. Kusumoto has served the Commission and the Nation with distinction from her earliest years in federal service. The impact of her work will long be recognized and lauded. We are grateful for her service,” said Chairman Khouri.  “We wish Mr. Wood the very best in his new assignment with DOJ and thank him for his ten years of service in the Office of General Counsel and especially for his leadership as our agency’s General Counsel these last four and ½ years.”
