Federal Maritime Commission Increases Global Alliances’ Information Monitoring Report Requirements
Pursuant to direction from Chairman Khouri, the Commission has issued letters to the three global carrier alliances requiring that certain carrier-specific trade data be filed more frequently.
Commissioner Sola Visits Houston for Panel Discussion and Meetings with Local Maritime Leaders
Commissioner Sola visited Houston, participating in events and meetings where the current state of the industry, the infrastructure required to support shipping, and the gateway’s future were among the topics of discussion.
Fact Finding 30 Field Visit to Port of Galveston
Commissioner Sola conducted a field visit to Galveston, Texas as part of his ongoing work leading the Fact Finding 30 examination of COVID-19 related impacts to the passenger cruise industry.
Commissioner Sola continued his examination of COVID-19 impacts to the southern Florida economy and the region’s cruise industry infrastructure by meeting with the senior leadership of Port Everglades.
Commission Approves Supplemental Order Expanding Fact Finding 29 Authority
The FMC approved a Supplemental Order expanding the authority of Fact Finding 29, “International Ocean Transportation Supply Chain Engagement”. The Supplemental Order authorizes Commissioner Rebecca Dye to investigate ocean carriers operating in alliances and calling the Port of Long Beach, the Port of Los Angeles, or the Port of New York and New Jersey.
