Commissioner Doyle Leaving FMC to Serve as Executive Director & CEO of Dredging Contractors of America

Commissioner William P. Doyle is departing the Federal Maritime Commission in early January to accept the positions of Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Dredging Contractors of America.

Commissioner Doyle’s last day of service will be Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

In his new roles, Mr. Doyle will be responsible for management, advocacy, and policy issues of the Dredging Contractors of America.

“I am grateful for the privilege to serve on the Federal Maritime Commission, particularly with other Commissioners who were genuinely concerned about the competitiveness and effectiveness of the Nation’s ocean cargo systems. While I am excited about this new opportunity and looking forward to getting started, I look back at my time on the Commission and feel proud of the good work that was accomplished,” said Commissioner Doyle.

With his departure, Mr. Doyle ends a five year tenure on the Commission, having first been confirmed by the Senate on January 1, 2013. He was unanimously re-confirmed on March 23, 2015 for a term that expires June 30, 2018.

His long professional association with the maritime industry will be beneficial to him as he works on behalf of his organization and its members. I have every confidence Mr. Doyle will be tireless in his efforts and enthusiastic in his advocacy,” said Acting Chairman Michael Khouri.

Commissioner Doyle is a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and the Widener University School of Law. He sailed as a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer for ten years and has held senior positions in the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association and the Office of the Federal Coordinator for Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Projects.
