5th Annual PortTech Los Angeles EXPO

Representing the Federal Maritime Commission, Chairman Mario Cordero gave the morning kickoff address at the PortTech Los Angeles EXPO on September 17, 2014. The EXPO highlighted advancements in clean technology for ports, featuring demonstrations and interactive displays. The Chairman joined executives from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in welcoming hundreds of other maritime professionals, including terminal operating companies, green technology entrepreneurs, investors, and government representatives to the PortTech EXPO. Chairman Cordero opened the event by commending PortTech LA and the innovators of sustainable port technology for their commitment to an environmentally responsible maritime transportation system. He also noted the Commission’s recognition of environmental best practices through its Earth Day Award and highlighted the importance of educating the shipping public about advancements in clean maritime technology.
